The ACTION Project supported the initiatives of civic society organizations aimed at countering corruption in four spheres during 2007 and 2008 - strengthening judicial reform; government monitoring and enforcement of ethical and administrative standards; streamlining and enforcing regulations; and combating corruption in institutions of higher education - identified by the Government of Ukraine in its Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Threshold Country Plan.

ACTION-supported initiatives yielded impressive results, namely 62 local reforms encompassing important spheres of life – education, public utilities, access to information, social security for families with many children, restoration of cultural monuments, etc. ACTION grantees rallied around these achievements to unite their efforts and solve problems affecting the public interest across Ukraine.  Thus, ten Coalitions comprised of 52 NGOs took shape.
