The Regional Press Development Institute (RPDI) proudly announces the launch of the Third National Contest For the Best Journalistic Investigation and Anti-Corruption Publication in Ukraine.  The Contest, which is conducted with the assistance of the ACTION Project, aims to raise public awareness and deliver objective and impartial information about corruption and methods of countering this phenomenon, increase public interest towards investigative journalism, and stimulate the development of high-quality investigative journalism in the Ukrainian mass-media.

The Contest  jury will review journalistic investigations covering corruption in Ukraine published or broadcasted in all types of mass media between November 1, 2008 and  October 15, 2009 in the following nominations:

Regional level:

«Best journalistic investigation on countering corruption in regional print and Internet press in Ukraine» – first, second, and third place in four regions of Ukraine:

·         Western (Zakarpatska, Ivano-Frankivska, Chernivetska, Lvivska, Volynska, Rivnenska, Ternopilska, Khmelnytska oblasts);

·        Southern (Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol, Khersonska, Mykolayivska, Odeska, Kirovohradska oblasts);

·        Northern  (Sumska, Chernihivska, Poltavska, Cherkaska, Kyivska, Zhytomyrska, Vinnytska oblasts);

·         Eastern (Luhanska, Donetska, Kharkivska, Zaporizka, Dnipropetrovska oblasts).

National level:

«Best journalistic investigation on countering corruption in regional TV and radio programs in Ukraine» – first, second, and third place.

«Best journalistic investigation on countering corruption in national print and Internet press in Ukraine» - first, second, and third place.

«Best journalistic investigation on countering corruption in national TV and radio programs in Ukraine» – first, second, and third place.

 «Grand Prix in the National Contest on Best Journalistic Investigation and Anti-Corruption Publication in Ukraine» – grand prix.

Results of the Contest and winners’ names will be announced during the official awards ceremony in Kyiv in November 2009.
